How does Ultherapy work?

Ultherapy is a no needle treatment that tightens and increases collagen using focused heat energy. Two layers of collagen are treated with micro focused sound waves that produce a small injury. This injury undergoes wound healing leading to increased collagen production.

The treatment isn't instant but develops over 6 weeks to 3 months. Its a one off treatment but as you age needs to be repeated every 1 to 2 years. This is a maintenance treatment that keeps the tissue tight and full of collagen, adding to your collagen bank, that will help you look refreshed and natural.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

The tissues are heated to between 60 and 70 degrees celsius, this gets hot and scratchy, but is bearable. Dr Kim can advise pain relief if you think you may need this. Most patients find the treatment comfortable and even fall asleep! Others require a small amount of pain relief.

How soon will I see results?
Results will become apparent from 3 months onwards. The results take time to build as collagen growth is not quick and takes up to 6 weeks to get started. You are also loosing collagen daily, so you should plan to prevent further loss with sunscreen, staying out of the sun and using medical grade skincare.

Why do I need another treatment?
The treatment will tighten the fibrous band and build collagen but as time goes by you age, and the collagen bands loosen again, that is why we need to keep maintaining these areas with more treatment. Collagen is lost from the tissues from as early as our early twenties, we need to continually be preserving and trying to build collagen into the tissues to maintain the appearance of the tissues.

How expensive is it?
Treatments like the brow start from £400. Book a consultation with Dr Booysen and she can advise you which areas would benefit you. Some areas like the jowls may require more treatment. Patients with significant laxity may also require more than one treatment to achieve the results they desire. Sometimes other treatments will be more appropriate to achieve the results you want and Dr Kim can advise you on these.

What areas can be treated?
Heavy brows, Jowls, Double chins, under eyes, crows feet, necks and décolletage.

Ultherapy is available in Beckenham, Bromley and Central London (by prior arrangement).
