Patient Procedure during Coronavirus (COVID 19) Outbreak

(Updated 09 November 2020)

Due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the risk of infection to people of all ages and physical health, the clinic has implemented new procedures to minimise spread of the virus.

The measures may seem scary and to some extreme. I also understand that different patients have different beliefs about the outbreak. As a doctor, I have worked in situations where loss of human life was high, and it is my duty to ensure patient safety any way that I possibly can. These measures are the way I show you and your families, my respect for your health and wellbeing.

If you feel uncomfortable at any time or feel the measures are extreme, and you wish to cancel or postpone your appointment, I completely understand as these are indeed non-essential treatments. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. The following procedures are now in place:

  • Clinics appointments will be spaced to ensure minimal risk of patient overlap and ensure adequate cleaning time between patients.

  • All new patients will have an online or verbal consult prior to their booked appointment.

Your treatment plan will be discussed as well as the cost, complications and side effects of treatment and what to expect in clinic. You will be sent an online consent form and this policies and procedure document. There is also a form explaining the risk of COVID-19 and aesthetic treatments. You will be asked to review and sign these forms before your appointment.

If you have had treatments before and are happy to confirm your treatment requirement and review your consent form online, then this can be managed without an online discussion. If you would like to discuss further treatments then a complimentary online consult is available for you to discuss potential treatments.

  • Consent forms will be sent via DocuSign and signed prior to attendance in the clinic.

This is to limit the touch points in the clinic which are high risk areas for virus transmission while still ensuring you fully consent to medical procedures.  If you prefer you can still sign the documents in clinic. I will also provide links to video recordings of me talking through the consent forms if you wish to watch those as well.

Forms are sent via Docusign and can be signed on a mobile/tablet or pc. You will be offered the option of creating a virtual signature or using one provided. Simply say “No Thanks” when prompted to sign up for a free account. Here is a video link on how to sign the form easily https://support.docusign.com/en/videos/New-Signing-Experience. Please review our Data Security policy if you have concerns about this procedure.

  • All patients will be asked to wash/sanitise hands as they arrive and remove shoes or use shoe covers on entering the clinic. You will be offered a mask if appropriate and can wear your own if you prefer.

There is a video demonstrating correct hand washing procedures, shoe protection and mask donning for you to watch prior to your arrival. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/iAtj4w1BjQg

  • Any personal contact such as hand shaking and hugs will not be allowed.

As a doctor I understand the need for human contact, but unfortunately, we need to adhere to social distancing to overcome this invisible threat.

  • Clinic will be cleared of all non-essential items to make cleaning easier. Refreshment services will also be temporarily discontinued.

  • Only the patient will be allowed in the clinic for treatment.

No visitors, children or chaperones will be allowed. If you are not able to comply with this, then you will be asked to postpone your treatment. I’m sorry if this is an inconvenience, but this is needed to maintain social distancing and minimise the risk of viral spread. If you have an extenuating circumstance, then please speak to me.

  • Payments can be taken electronically or in clinic.

The clinic accepts cash, debit and credit cards including AMEX and Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and GPay.

  • Aftercare forms will be emailed electronically.

  • Dr Kim will continue to practice the highest levels of infection control.

These include hand washing before and after procedures, hand sanitiser use, use of sterile treatment packs, skin cleansing with viricidal Clinisept and disposal of clinical waste into appropriate medical waste disposal units.

  • Dr Kim will wear personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, a face shield, eye protection, aprons, scrubs and a scrub hat during treatments.

  • The clinic space will be cleaned after every attendance with medical grades wipes and spray.

  • Appointment times have been extended to prevent patient overlap.

Please arrive on time and wait in your car until your designated appointment time to allow for cleaning to occur. Please message if you are going to be late in order for times to be adjusted.

  • Patient preparation such as numbing cream will be done at home, if needed, to minimise clinic time.

Equipment preparation for each treatment will be completed prior to your arrival to minimise clinic time. Please come to your appointment without make up to minimise time in clinic.

  • Recycling of non-contaminated gloves, shoe covers, masks and hairnets is done to minimise the environmental impact of the virus.

  • Orders of skincare can be delivered directly to you or collected at your appointment.

  • A hospital grade air filter that clears the air or virus particles will be in constant use in the clinic. This allows treatments that require a mask removal to be as safe as possible.

Thank you to all my patients for your understanding while we all adjust and implement measures to combat this virus.

See you in clinic soon.
