Patient Procedure during Coronavirus (COVID 19) Outbreak

(Updated 11 May 2020)

Due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the risk of infection to people of all ages and physical health, the clinic has implemented new procedures to minimise spread of the virus.

The measures may seem scary and to some extreme. I also understand that different patients have different beliefs about the outbreak. As a doctor, I have worked in situations where loss of human life was high, and it is my duty to ensure patient safety any way that I possibly can. These measures are the way I show you and your families, my respect for your health and wellbeing.

If you feel uncomfortable at any time or feel the measures are extreme, and you wish to cancel or postpone your appointment, I completely understand as these are indeed non-essential treatments. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. The following procedures are now in place:

  • Clinics will only be held in Bromley initially.

  • Beckenham clinic will resume mid-June and will move to a new location.

The location of the Beckenham clinic is moving. The clinic in Beckenham will no longer be held at Breeze Yoga, as the large number of users in this facility does not allow me to exercise the infection control measures, I feel are necessary at this time. From mid-June the clinic will be located at 95 High Street, Beckenham. The appointments will be spaced further apart, the waiting room will not be open for the first few months and I will operate a strict, no overlap policy. Bookings for this clinic will be available on www.drkimbooysen.com.

  • All patients will have an online or verbal consult prior to their booked appointment.

The day before your appointment I will contact you and confirm you are happy to receive treatment during the pandemic, confirm you have no symptoms of COVID-19 and you have not been in contact with anyone with symptoms. You will be asked to sign an electronic patient declaration regarding this. You will be sent the clinic COVID-19 Policies and Procedures to review prior to your treatment.

I will discuss your proposed treatment with you. I will review the procedure, cost, consent form, aftercare procedures and answer any questions you may have.  You will be sent an electronic consent form to sign and asked to make the full payment online prior to attending your appointment. Please advise me of all treatments you would like on the day, as adding extra treatments with the correct consent, equipment and appointment time, may not be possible and I would hate to disappoint you.

  • All patients will be asked to wash hands as they arrive and remove shoes or use shoe covers on entering the clinic.

There is a video demonstrating correct hand washing procedures and shoe protection donning for you to watch prior to your arrival.

  • Any personal contact such as hand shaking and hugs will not be allowed.

As a doctor I understand the need for human contact, but unfortunately, we need to adhere to social distancing to overcome this invisible threat.

  • Clinic will be cleared of all non-essential items to make cleaning easier. Refreshment services will also be temporarily discontinued.

  • In clinic time will be limited to the procedure only, to limit possible virus exposure time.

Although I enjoy chatting with you, unfortunately I won’t be able to spend as much time on this as I would like to. I will however chat to you’re the day before and feel free to ask any questions then.

  • Only the patient will be allowed in the clinic for treatment.

Absolutely no visitors, children or chaperones will be allowed. If you are not able to comply with this, then you will be asked to postpone your treatment. I’m sorry if this is an inconvenience, but this is needed to maintain social distancing and minimise the risk of viral spread.

  • Consent forms will be sent via DocuSign and signed prior to attendance in the clinic.

This is to limit the touch points in the clinic which are high risk areas for virus transmission while still ensuring you fully consent to medical procedures. Failure to sign the forms before arrival may lead to your appointment being postponed.

Forms are sent via Docusign and can be signed on a mobile/tablet or pc. You will be offered the option of creating a virtual signature or using one provided. Simply say “No Thanks” when prompted to sign up for a free account. Here is a video link on how to sign the form easily https://support.docusign.com/en/videos/New-Signing-Experience. Please review our Data Security policy if you have concerns about this procedure.

  • Payments will be taken electronically prior to attendance in clinic.

This is to limit the touch points (payment machines) in the clinic, which are high risk areas for virus transmission. If you wish to pay with cash please advise Dr Booysen beforehand. Additional treatments will be billed on departure via a PayPal link. If you have Apple Pay, you may utilise this payment options in clinic, without touching the card reader.

You can use a normal debit or credit card to make payments on PayPal, you do not need a PayPal Account.

  • Aftercare forms will be emailed electronically.

  • Dr Kim will continue to practice the highest levels of infection control.

These include hand washing before and after procedures, hand sanitiser use, use of sterile treatment packs, skin cleansing with viricidal Clinisept and disposal of clinical waste into appropriate medical waste disposal units.

  • Dr Kim will wear personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, a face shield, eye protection, aprons, scrubs and a scrub hat during treatments. Please watch the video on this by clicking on this link.

  • The clinic space will be cleaned after every attendance with medical grades wipes and spray.

  • Appointment times have been extended to prevent patient overlap. Please arrive on time and wait in your car until your designated appointment time to allow for cleaning to occur. Please message if you are going to be late in order for times to be adjusted.

  • Patient preparation such as numbing cream will be done at home to minimise clinic time and equipment preparation for each treatment will be completed prior to your arrival to minimise clinic time. Please come to your appointment without make up to minimise time in clinic.

  • Recycling of non-contaminated gloves and hairnets has been paused.

  • Orders of skincare can be delivered directly to you or collected at your appointment.

Thank you to all my patients for your understanding while we all adjust and implement measures to combat this virus.

See you in clinic soon.
