Filler Complications & Correction Clinic in Bromley (South East London)

If your lip filler or under-eye filler has gone wrong—swelling, lumps, migration, asymmetry or a blue/grey Tyndall effect—we offer doctor-led assessment and correction options, including filler dissolving where clinically appropriate

Doctor-led assessment for filler complications (with ultrasound)

If you’re worried your dermal filler has gone wrong — swelling, lumps, migration, asymmetry, pain, or an “overfilled” look — you deserve a careful medical assessment, not guesswork. I’m a qualified medical doctor with a background in Emergency Medicine, which means I’m trained to recognise red flags, manage risk, and make calm, evidence-based decisions when something isn’t straightforward.

I also contribute to Merz EMEA complication groups, and I have experience assessing and managing filler-related complications in clinical practice. Importantly, I have ultrasound available in clinic. Ultrasound can help identify what’s actually going on under the skin — for example, whether you’re dealing with product, swelling, scar tissue, vascular changes, or a combination — so we can plan the safest and most effective route forward.

Consultation for filler complications first, then treatment if appropriate

Your appointment starts with a dedicated consultation, where we take a full history (including what was injected, when, and where), examine you, and scan if needed. Only then do we discuss your options. If treatment is appropriate, this may include ultrasound-guided dissolving of hyaluronic-acid filler, supportive medical treatment (where clinically indicated), or referral to the right specialist services if that’s the safest next step. Because I’m a doctor, I can prescribe medication when needed and coordinate appropriate onward referral.

Dissolving lips filler or dissolving tear trough fillers isn’t always a quick fix — and that’s why medical oversight matters

Filler dissolving is often presented online as a simple “one-and-done” solution. In reality, it can be more complex. Outcomes can be affected by scar tissue, inflammation, older or firmer product, product sitting in multiple planes, or swelling that mimics filler. Sometimes the visible problem isn’t only filler — and dissolving without properly assessing can lead to incomplete results, prolonged swelling, or disappointment.

This is why I take a measured, medical approach: assess properly, scan when helpful, treat conservatively and safely, and review progress over time. For many patients, the best result comes from a stepwise plan rather than a single aggressive session.

Dissolving filler fees, expectations, and what success looks like

I charge for this service because it involves medical-level assessment, clinical judgement, and (when needed) ultrasound guidance and follow-up. My goal is to help you achieve the best possible resolution of the issue in the safest way I can. That said, complications work is rarely an instant fix — it often requires patience, a clear plan, and sometimes more than one appointment to reach a stable and satisfying outcome.

If you’re feeling anxious, embarrassed, or simply unsure what’s happened, you’re not alone. You’ll be listened to, assessed properly, and guided through a realistic plan to move forward.

FAQs about filler complications

“I have lumps after filler — what happens in the consultation?”

During your consulation we talk bout what and when you had fillers and talk about your aesthetic journey, we also scan the affected area to see what filler can be seen, then we discuss how we will go about gettting the best result for you.

“Can filler be dissolved if it’s old or hard?”

Fillers can last iin the body for many years, some filler has been found 12 years after being injected, so it doesn't dissolve as quickly as we thought. Some filler will have scar tissue around it, which can feel hard and bumpy, other filler will lie in the tissues and can cause swelling. We can assess the type of filler you have and work from there.

"Are some fillers harder to dissolve than others?"

Semi permanent fillers can't be dissolved in the tradtional way that hyaluronic acid fillers can be, they require a different treatment. Some types of hyalruonic acid fillers do require more sessions than others but this will depend on the volume, age and position of the fillers.

“Do you use ultrasound for filler problems?”

Yes, all filler complications and even botulinum toxin complications, are treated using ultrasound.

“How many sessions might I need?”

This will depend on the age, amount and type of filler used. Usually 1-2 sessions is normal, but up to 3 sessions may be needed.

“What symptoms are urgent?”

Urgent symptoms include painful, white or purple looking tissue that doesn't get better in a few hours. You should contact your health care practitioner immediately if you are concerned and have a face to face review.

"What does a consultation cost?"

Dr Kim Booysen charges £175 for a consultation including the ultrasound scanning of the fillers and a written report. £50 will be credited to any treatment you have after the consultation. Two dissolving sessions, including reviews is £375.
